FAQs
Who do you typically work with?
We walk alongside individuals, couples, and families who are ready to meet life’s challenges with courage and curiosity. Those who enter our space often seek to move beyond surface-level healing, longing to reconnect with their bodies, hearts, and the deeper truths within. They are drawn to practices that awaken presence, embodiment, and transformation, and desire guidance that honors their whole being—mind, body, spirit, and soul—on a journey toward clarity, freedom, and authentic living.
What is A Healing Ground, and what makes your approach unique?
A Healing Ground is a holistic, decolonizing, and integrative space where we honor the mind, body, heart, and spirit. Our work weaves evidence-based practices with ancestral wisdom, somatic healing, ritual, and contemplative practices. We focus on cultivating safety, presence, and embodiment so you can meet yourself more fully. Here, healing is not just about reducing symptoms—it’s about remembering who you are, reconnecting with your deeper truth, and creating space for transformation on every level.
What can I expect in our work together?
You can expect a deeply grounded, compassionate, and culturally attuned experience where your whole self is welcomed. Together, we explore your story on emotional, relational, somatic, and spiritual levels, helping you uncover patterns, release what no longer serves you, and reconnect with your innate wisdom. We go beyond traditional talk therapy, incorporating movement, expressive art, somatic practices, and innovative approaches to help you explore and release patterns stored in your body and emotions.
Our sessions are collaborative, paced to your comfort, and designed to cultivate presence, embodiment, and self-compassion. You’ll have space to explore not only challenges but also your strengths, desires, and possibilities. Healing here is felt as much in the body and heart as it is in the mind, creating an experience that is profoundly human, transformative, and life-affirming.
Do you offer online or in-person services?
Yes. We offer both online and in-person sessions to support accessibility, comfort, and the unique needs of each client. Online sessions provide the flexibility to engage in healing from wherever you feel most safe and grounded, making it easier to integrate growth into your daily life. In-person sessions allow you to experience the energetic presence of our physical healing space, where the environment itself supports embodiment, ritual, and deeper somatic connection. Whichever you choose, our focus is on creating a space where you feel held, seen, and supported as you move through your journey of transformation. You are invited to select the format that best nurtures your body, mind, and spirit.
Do you take insurance?
We know that starting therapy can feel like a big step, and financial concerns should never stand in the way of your healing. While we are in the process of becoming providers for Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and Aetna, we offer low-fee sessions and an equity-based sliding scale to meet you where you are. We intend to create a space where you can feel supported, cared for, and fully held on your journey toward growth, presence, and wholeness. We do provide a superbill (invoice) for possible reimbursement from your insurance company.
How do I get started with A Healing Ground?
Getting started is simple and welcoming. You can reach out through our website or by phone (call/text) to schedule a consultation, where we’ll take the time to understand your needs, answer your questions, and explore which approach or services feel most supportive for you. From there, we’ll create a plan that honors your pace, your goals, and your whole self—mind, body, heart, and spirit. We intend to make your first steps into healing feel safe, guided, and empowering.
What do you mean by holistic, decolonizing, somatic, and integrative?
Holistic means we honor the whole of you—mind, body, emotions, relationships, energy, and spirit. Healing is not limited to thoughts or behaviors; it includes how you feel, how you breathe, how you carry your story in your body, and how you connect to something larger than yourself.
Decolonizing means we gently unlearn the beliefs, systems, and stories—personal, familial, cultural, and societal—that have limited your voice, power, or pleasure. It is a process of reclaiming your truth, honoring your ancestry, and healing beyond oppressive narratives so you can live from a place of authenticity and freedom.
Somatic refers to healing that includes the wisdom of the body. We explore how emotions, memories, trauma, and intuition live in your physical experience. Through grounding, breath, movement, and body-based awareness, you learn to listen to your body as a guide, not just a vessel.
Integrative means we bring together multiple approaches—psychological, relational, spiritual, somatic, and evidence-based methods—to support you in a way that is tailored, whole, and aligned with your unique journey. Nothing is one-size-fits-all; your healing draws from many sources working together in harmony.
What types of services or sessions do you offer?
How long are sessions, and how often should I come?
Most sessions are 50–60 minutes, though some specialized or somatic sessions may be longer. The frequency depends on your needs, goals, and availability—we work with you to create a schedule that supports consistent growth while honoring your pace and capacity.
Is what I share in sessions confidential?
Can I choose between different approaches in my healing work?
What if I’m not sure what I need or what approach is right for me?
Do you offer workshops, group sessions, or community programs?
In addition to individual sessions, we offer workshops, group sessions, and community programs focused on embodiment, relational health, spiritual growth, and holistic wellness. These offerings provide connection, shared learning, and opportunities for deeper exploration alongside others on similar journeys.
What makes A Healing Ground different from traditional therapy?
At A Healing Ground, we go beyond traditional talk therapy by integrating the wisdom of the body, heart, and spirit. We combine somatic practices, expressive arts, ritual, contemplative work, and culturally attuned approaches to create a space where healing is experienced on every level—mind, body, heart, and soul. Here, you are seen, heard, and held fully, and transformation is both felt and lived.
How do you support clients from diverse cultural backgrounds?
We honor and center the richness of each client’s cultural, ancestral, and lived experience. Our work is decolonizing and culturally attuned, creating space to explore how culture, ancestry, and systemic forces shape your story. We listen deeply, integrate culturally relevant practices, and collaborate with you to create healing that resonates authentically with your identity and values.
